Getting Around Guatemala: Airports, Transfers and Transport

La Aurora International Airport or a shuttle van on a highland road

Landing at La Aurora (GUA)

Almost every international visitor arrives through La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City, a short drive from both Zona 10/11/14 and about an hour from Antigua depending on traffic.

Airport to your apartment

Private transfers and rideshare apps both work well from the airport into Zona 11 or Zona 14 - message us on WhatsApp before you land and we can book a reliable private transfer straight to your door, no need to figure it out after a long flight.

Getting to Antigua

Shuttles run constantly between the airport/city and Antigua, and it's an easy private transfer if you'd rather go direct without stops - about an hour depending on traffic. We can book this for you on WhatsApp too, timed to your flight so no one's waiting around.

Reaching Lake Atitlán and El Paredón

Both are a few hours from Antigua or Guatemala City by shuttle or private car - shuttles are cheaper and social, private transfer is faster and more flexible. Message us and we'll arrange whichever fits your dates, directly from wherever you're staying with us.

Tours, not just transport

It's not only transfers - message us on WhatsApp for ATV tours through the highlands, volcano hikes (Acatenango or Pacaya), or any other activity you want sorted before you land. We'll point you to reliable local operators and help you book direct, the same way we do with the apartments.

A general note on road travel

Stick to daytime travel on intercity routes where possible, and use a reputable shuttle company or private driver rather than random informal transport - normal, sensible practice anywhere in Central America.
